Identification systems

Laser marking

The laser marking is a non-contact method for many different materials such as metal, wood, ceramics, plastics, food, etc.. It impresses with its high precision and flexibility in the design of the label. The speed and the laser to be used is coupled to the condition of the to be labeled product. Here, inter alia the material, the surface and the color of the product is significantly. Consider the following when planning that some products (mostly plastic) need an additive in the production to implement a color change. However, there are other alternatives. This marking offers a high durability. It is abrasion-and solvent-resistant and has a high light and temperature resistance. By the formation of dust particles, the systems must be provided with a good exhaust.

In this process there are the highest initial cost. Operating costs are normal to low.


Pad printing

Pad printing paint colors are transferred by means of a stamp (Tampon) from a negative (Klischee) on the product. Case a force must be exerted on the product. This force depends on the material and the surface of the product. Since we are limited by the Klischee of flexibility in the design of the label, this system is usually used for uniform labeling of a product. A great advantage of this system is the multi-color printing. Cycle times can be very low, but are coupled to the printed image and the multi-color labeling. The durability is very good, but only conditionally solvent and temperature resistant.

The initial costs are low with this labeling system. However, the operating costs are in the normal to expensive range.



With an embossing tool (forming tool), a force on the product to be marked is exercised. This force varies depending on the application. The material of the product is formed, it creates a depression. Depending on the material and size of product, there are two types of embossing. In case of thin and soft materials it is embossed from the top and bottom, each with a positive and a negative. With a larger and solid material we embossed only with a positive. The flexibility in the labeling is limited by the embossing wheels. Here, only sequential numbers or letters can be used. The material and embossing depth dictate the speed / cycle times. This method is mostly used for tamper evident security labels (for example engine block serial number, as the number is deep in the structure still recognizable).

The initial and operating costs are in he low to normal range.


Labeling/Thermal transfer printing

As the name suggests we bring label to the product. These label are labeled with the aid of a thermal transfer printer, or a laser. There is also the possibility of providing the product directly to a thermal transfer printing. Here, no large force is applied to the productAlso, the cycle times are very low and the impression has a high resistance.

The initial and operating costs are within the normal range.
